In early morning raids on Aug. 18, the Israeli military shut down the offices of several Palestinian human rights and civil society groups. The targeted groups include Defense for Children International – Palestine, Al-Haq, Addameer, Bisan, the Union of Agricultural Working Committees, the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees, and the Union of Health Work Committees.
These are widely respected Palestinian human rights organizations. AFSC partners with Defense for Children International – Palestine on the No Way to Treat a Child campaign, which has led to the first congressional bill on Palestinian children’s human rights in the U.S.
Israel’s actions are an attempt to silence organizations that have exposed the government’s human rights abuses. And they come after decades of escalating attacks on Palestinian civil society.
Tell Congress to support H.Res. 751, which condemns Israel’s criminalization of human rights organizations and calls for an immediate reversal!
